My 18y/o daughter had this up and running in 30 minutes. We're watching a NetFlix movie as I write this. I'm not a techie so can't go into detail like some reviews... But it's great to have a nice Blue Ray DVD player that we can get streaming video from online. We own a 50" Panasonic plasma TV with a Panasonic home theater. Everything works together perfectly. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Good with the right research. By Luvlee I recently got this blu ray player to replace a dvd player and was happy with the outcome. This is a fantastic blu ray player it's sleek and slim and produces great quality from both dvds and blu rays. Now why this is rated so low is because people didn't do their research. Yes this is netflix ready and a networking player but it requires a $70 dollar add on in order to do it. If you have the cash it's fantastic and a great home theater addition. I highly recommend this product don't let the low star rating discourage you the reason it's low is because of the add on not coming with the player. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Great Blu-ray Player By Sean I was somewhat hesitant to buy this player due to some negative reviews but found it at a great price and have not regretted it. What I love best about this player is how it works with my TV. I wanted to buy a Panasonic Blu-ray player because we have a Panasonic 42" 720p television and the Viera Link works great. What is so awesome for us is that the TV remote operates the main functions you need and works through the television set so we don't need to have the cabinet open in order to see the player which is awesome since our 1 1/2 year old son loves to mess with it. Blu-rays and DVDs look spectacular and I did not buy it for internet applications although it is convenient that firmware can be downloaded directly to the player and we will get Netflix eventually. Bottom line, great blu-ray player! See all 13 customer reviews...

Woohoo! -Very thin/light/quiet/small. And I mean quiet!! -Attractive, has options in BIOS to turn off the blue light which is great! -I created a bootable SD card using Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe ... if you want to create a bootable SD/USB flash card from a DVD ISO, this is the best way to do it!! Worked like a charm on this unit. -Reasonable speeds... one of the best nettops out there, this is new hardware folks. Cons: -Only one legacy usb port, for some reason my legacy usb devices and thumb drives don't work in the newer high speed usb ports on this, needed to buy a usb hub to be safe. -250GB HD? You do realize people are dishing out $500 for this thing, and using it almost entirely as a livingroom media solution, most likely to rip DVD's, etc... I would expect 500GB at the VERY LEAST. -Would have been happier with more than 2GB RAM, especially at this price point, but that will suffice for most applications of this box. This is not as big of a deal to me. -If you use NetFlix streaming to a TV like I do, be prepared that HD encoding will slow down majorly on this box at times. I turn off HD feature on NetFlix streaming entirely to avoid this. These units are hardware equipped for Flash acceleration, unfortunately NetFlix uses MS Silverlight. This is not Zodac's fault and does not count against them in this review, just pointing that out because I know other people will be trying the same stuff. Overall, you can't get a much sexier nettop than this, but I have to give honest criticism where it is due. Don't cheat your customers on basic necessities. You should have had one less USB 3.0 port, and one more legacy port. This isn't 2015 yet. And you went cheap with the 250GB HD, IMO. I would have gladly spent a few extra bucks for 500GB. But again, gosh this thing looks sexy in my living room next to my TV. Love showing it off. Come to think of it, haven't tried overclocking yet... can't comment on the overclockability of this unit. EDIT: my CPU overclocks stable at 206MHz (base speed) without any changes in fan speed/voltage AND, buy this HD Decoder card that fits perfectly on this Motherboard in the extra mini-pcie slot, it makes a huge difference in your ability to watch streaming HD video without lag/choppiness: (search google for "logicsupply" which is where I got mine, and get the Broadcom Hardware Decoder BCM970015 - PCIe Mini Card (BCM970015)) It was on sale for $35 from this same website when I bought it a couple weeks ago... now it's at $50. Still well worth it. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Very nice packaging of capabilities, poor WiFi, maybe scrimping on memory and disk By Douglas B. Moran Overall, this is a very nice design, both in the tradeoffs and the layout, especially the connectors (some quibbles below). My admiration as an engineer for how well they packed so much into a small package gives it one star of "extra credit" that offset the deduction of one star for the collection of minor problems. This review does not summarize the readily available specs, but adds details that I expect are useful to an "enthusiast", which in turn I hope will help you decide whether this is the system for you.NOT JUST HTPC: Although the Blu-ray drive causes this system to be considered a HTPC (Home Theater PC), it and similar "nettop" models from Zotac and competing manufacturers (ASUS, Acer, Lenovo,...) could be suitable in a range of other uses. If I was still Corporate, I would experiment using it in conference rooms and sending out with sales reps for presentations: uses where it will be connected to a projector/big screen and controlled with a wireless keyboard and pointing device. Laptops are currently used for this, but the convenience of having an integrated display and keyboard has been diminished by much of that usage shifting to smart

I selected this TV based on size and the good picture I saw on this model at Sears. Purchased from Amazon after price shopping. UPS delivered a slightly scuffed up shipping box. The shipping box said it had the AUSYLJR panel. I compared the LG web site contrast ratio to the two different Amazon stated contrast ratio and none agree. Installing the base with eight screws was easy. After my DW assisted me in carefully lifting the TV to the top of my dresser I was ready for the smoke test. But first I noticed a small factory nick on the frame under the protective sticky tape. One star deduction for this blemish. On power up the set went into a simple set up mode but I was stopped cold when it first wanted to scan OTA channels. I hooked up some powered rabbit ears and let it automatically do it's thing. Once that was done I switched the input to an HDMI cable from my cable box and all looked good. It was quite easy getting a WiFi connection. All I had to do was enter my Linky password. Then I clicked on Netflix and got an authorization message. Meanwhile the TV started updating its software which took maybe 10 minutes. After it rebooted I discovered that it erased my Linky password so I entered that again. Now for the Netflix test. I selected the documentary Restrepo, hooked in my headphones and began the Netflix test. Immediately I was blown away by the video and audio quality I was watching. Trust me. It was outstanding ! ! Second day impression: The few free LG apps are a joke. The Facebook app is not very good compared to the Facebook PC web site. The TV broadcast image seemed a lot darker than I liked so I turned off the energy saving mode which solved the problem. I noticed that when my cable DVR, in pause mode, went to a black screen with a small moving screen saver image there was a less black area around the moving image. The Amazon price just dropped on this model. Amazon then agreed to match their new lower price - one time only. First week impression: The LED lighting slightly leaks through the air vent holes on the back of the set. This LG TV is still displaying an outstanding picture but I'm not much a fan of LED TVs. I prefer my older Samy 650 LCD only model in my TV room. This TV was assembled in March 2011 and sold to me by Amazon in April 2011. Amazon seems to change the price up and down on this TV nearly everyday. The LG shipping box goes to trashman today because I'm keeping my baby. Second week impression: Discovered that you don't need to install any LG supplied software to easily play mp3's or see jpg's that are located on any of your local network's computers. 48 of 48 people found the following review helpful. Life is Good By E. J Tastad Update 7/6/11: Firmware update 4.0.11 adds hulu plus. This will be of interest to some users. Pros: Nice large crisp picture Huge number of picture adjustments Low Power consumption Includes Wireless Network Adapter that can act as a router Viewing angle Cons: Not many apps Had to configure for best image quality for movies Auto back light becomes annoying (disable it) Some light bleeding is noticeable on black backgrounds with white text. Bottom Line: Nice TV. Remote is easy to use, controls are intuitive. It offers a huge number of picture adjustments for calibration purposes. Lots of inputs, and nice slim design. The image is nice and sharp (and not overly sharp). Browse the internet review sites to find some values for setting image parameters up for best image quality (or at least a starting point). The "Cinema" mode isn't bad if you turn off the auto back light (this feature turns the back light off for dark scenes, but it is noticeable on this TV model as it is a global back light. The more expensive models have a localized back lights that might be less noticeable. Power consumption with the back light at max is about

Works but seems rushed to market By Damon Thompson This unit is easy to setup for wireless and does play BR and DVDs without issue. There are however several misconceptions over what this unit does you may get from reading the Vizio website. This unit does not come with an HDMI cable like their website says (the box correctly says it does not). It also does not play any movies/video clips from the USB. The streaming newsfeeds are also text only. Most importantly the website recommends you should get their dual 2.4/5GHz router for best performance. This unit does not have a 5GHz radio so there is no reason to buy their router. The unit also has clunky controls compared to mainline brands. The unit doesn't respond to all commands and doesn't do things like close the disk tray when you push play. It also doesn't have resume play which I consider a necessity. Lack of TV controls on the remote are also a major oversight. All my petty complaints aside the streaming Netflix does have a very nice picture when streaming HD. The buffer seems to be adequate to avoid interruptions. Netflix does drop out occasionally but I think this is Netflix's issue. I did have an issue when operating in 802.11b that it will not connect when positioned on top of my settop box. With 802.11n it does work even when racked. Your results may very on location but there is some interference from other electronics. Pandora operates without any problem and the sound is good over RCA cables. For the price you have to commend Vizio for the features they deliver but I think it's necessary to point out the flaws which most likely came from rushing this product to market. This seems to be the new norm in american business. 21 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Terrific player By Rick Daniels Very pleased with this player. Wireless connectivity works great, playback is fantastic, and a good variety of apps. Also pleasantly suprised with the great upconvert quality on standard DVDs (can be hit-or-miss for Blu Ray players)...had a couple others make this observation as well. 33 of 38 people found the following review helpful. This IS Amazon verfied, just under my wifes account. By Matt I agree with the other notes that the item has potential, but certainly seems as though Vizio was a little too eager to get it out the door. Even worse is the little sister version of this (VBR200.) Likes: -Price -Quality of Picture -Streams Netflix -Will stream Hulu Plus (per Hulu's website) -Sleek Looking -Touch controls Dislikes: -False Advertising. There is a lot of things Vizio kind of claims that it doesn't really have. It even suggests buying their dual band router, yet this doesn't even have 5ghz?!? So there IS NOT POINT! It's NOT DUAL BAND. ?? -This has got to be one of the noisiest drives I've ever heard. Seriously when it sucks the disk it I hear all sorts of crazy before the movie starts. -The remote control is a POS! Serious a piece of $#!%! It feels so cheap and doesn't even have TV controls. I bought this BD along with a Vizio LCD thinking it'd be perfect for my bedroom. I still have to use dual remotes to get the job done. It also doesn't seem to work half the time when you press buttons. Feels like dead batteries but its the remote. It's a Vizio crappy remote thing too, my Vizio TV remote does the same thing. -The included WiFi attachment is actually a small card that sticks out from the back and blinks very brightly. So much in fact it looks like a little strobe light behind my set up. -BD Tray does not close when I click play. -BD doesn't seem to resume play. -BD Live is NOT included regardless of what their website says. It's false advertising. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with their tech support rep trying to figure out why it wouldn't work, yet the BD Live worked fine on the same disk with my PS3. He finally informed me that "it must be an issue with the BD Live

Excellent & inexpensive networked media player for those saying no to wireless By mukhi I have previously tried WD TV (1st generation) and CinemaTube and compared them since these were the media players having similar features at similar prices. Despite WD TV was the most popular media player, I had shown that CinemaTube was the winner. Read my review for CinemaTube here: http://www.amazon.com/Brite-View-BV-5005HD-CinemaTube-Multimedia-Downloader/dp/B002CNOYRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280036605&sr=8-1 Now that both WD TV Live Plus and CinemaGo are out to fight, I can see CinemaGo is still going to be the winner for similar reasons. Although this time I did not try WD TV Live Plus (I didn't feel to), but after comparing their available features, from my previous experience with WD TV and CinemaTube and current experience with CinemaGo, I must say it will be hard to get a better product in the market at this price point. Don't care about wireless? Save money then! You can get CinemaTube Mini now for less, which is nothing but CinemaGo sans wireless. You can still buy a wireless USB adapter in future to make it wireless (Brite-View recommended adapter desirable). Read my review for CinemaGo here: http://www.amazon.com/brite-View-BV-5005HD-Mini-Networking-Multimedia/product-reviews/B003TUB2VE/ref=cm_cr_pr_recent?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending CinemaTube Mini can do "everything" that CinemaGo can do!!! NOTE: Muzee now offers some TV channels for free! I liked some of the channels and added to my favorites. Quality is standard internet quality. Parenteral control can be done by using a password. Some bugs need to be fixed through firmware updates: As someone else also reported, # ISO's DVD menu is still kinda buggy. For example, the movement of the DVD menu's pointer doesn't match the graphic sometimes. # IDX+SUB subtitle doesn't work sometimes. As soon as a video is loaded with IDX+SUB subtitle, the screen turns black, and the device restarts automatically. # If you come across a radio/TV station where you cannot get a signal (nothing plays), the whole player freezes up. You cannot power it off via the remote; you have to yank out the power cable. I came across several of these stations that froze my player among the handful that I tried out. For now, best option is to add the working channels to favorites. That works perfectly for me. # Sometimes even after I power off the unit (red light), sometimes it comes back on even though I wasn't doing anything. # Some folks reported slow torrent download. I don't see that much problem. Remember, speed of download depends on the number of seeds/peers at a particular time and their upload speeds. Nevertheless, torrent may be slow because of BitTorrent client Brite-View is using. The advantage is CinemaTube Mini can be left on overnight to finish downloading as this device uses very low power. And guess what? You will see ALL folders, even system/hidden ones!!! It doesn't affect your unit, but you may not want someone see these folders. Built quality could be better, but that might make the product price higher. Bottomline: If you are looking for a compact computer-free media file playback, torrent download and streaming, you are going to fall in love with this inexpensive but powerful gadget. For your peace of mind, frequent firmware update and excellent customer service from Brite-View are also right there. For the price, I could not find anything better. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Okay Media Streamer with Weak GUI and No Support By S. Chervets Recently switched to recording over the air TV and needed a media streamer. I tried Asus, BriteView WD, Boxee Box, and the old Popcorn Hour (a110) box. Here is a summary of what I found: BriteView o This is the streamer I kept o Plays everything (except for DVD VOB directories) o Doesn't show subtitles

GREAT blu-ray player By Go Terps I've only had this player for about a week or so, but it has exceeded my expectations. I was a little skeptical to buy it from the SonyStyle website before I could read any user reviews or see the rating on Cnet, let alone find it anywhere else for sale. However, it was worth the risk. Here are a few things that stand out: 1) blu-ray content looks amazing 2) looks good, is easy to use (remote and exterior controls) 3) amazing built-in capabilities: built in Wifi is smooth, Netflix, Pandora, and the amazing Berlin Phil Digital Music Hall 4) Set-up of wifi is very easy...you are guided right through After one week, I have zero complaints and give it the highest recommendation. ps--I don't even use the 3D capability and don't care, so I can't comment on that 71 of 80 people found the following review helpful. Great All Around Player, but .... By Jeremy A Edson I have been nothing but impressed with the quality of the BDP-S770. It is a fantastic Blu-ray, Netflix, Amazon, and Qriocity media playing device. It has just about every feature that you could possibly want, with one exception. One of the main reasons I bought this particular player was for its DLNA capabilities. I have a DLNA media server that has around 400 h.264 movies and thousands of AAC songs and I was hoping that the BDP-S770 would be able to play them through DLNA streaming. This is not the case. At first I was just confused, the device showed all my pictures from the media server, but would not show or play any music or movies. After digging though the manual for a little bit I found a few very curious footnotes. The device only supports AAC and H.264 video through a direct connection! It cannot stream these formats from my media server, which is very disappointing. If you want a top of the line Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Blu-ray player .... then this is the device for you. Just dont expect it to live up to the hype when it comes to your DLNA media servers. Hopefully they will address this via a firmware update, which if they do, this would turn into a 5 star review. 43 of 48 people found the following review helpful. BDP-S770 Blu RAy Player Streaming Issues By D. Mcdermott Just got the newest Sony 3D BluRay player, BDP-S770. Really bought it so I could stream internet content to my HDTV. This new player has very quick startup and video quality of my Bluray disks when played on the S770 are much better than my S350. Internet hookup went well, but have one issue. I can not get Dolby 5.1 sound to stream when streaming HD movies that have Dolby 5.1. The test HD movie clip from Amazon video on demand has great video but the sound is PCM. I assumed that the player would stream Dolby 5.1 but it does not according to Sony. I get great Dolby 5.1 when playing disks but not when streaming via internet (ony get PCM sound), and I have a very fast Verizon FIOS 35 Mbps connection and I used Ethernet cable from my router to the Blu Ray S770. My S770 is connected to my surround sound amp via a digital cable (I also tried an optic cable with no luck). I called Sony and they said the S770 was not designed to stream Dolby 5.1 when streaming HD movies. Seems like a dumb design. I am considering returning the player since I bought it to replace my present practise of renting disks at Blockbuster. Without Dolby 5.1 sound, I am missing the surround sound experience unless I use disks. See all 42 customer reviews...

Hollingworth I have the Zinwell and a pair of Western Digital TV Live so I'll compare and contrast. Setup is super easy with both. Connect to your TV or receiver via HDMI cable, attach an external hard drive (not included) and go into the menus to configure your audio and video option. You can also connect these to a wired network and Western Digial has certified a number of USB wireless adapters that require a bit more knowledge to setup. The documentation from both companies could be a lot better so I'll call this one a tie. The WDTV Live is a bit slower to start up but directory changes are much-much faster than the Zinwell. I suspect because the WD indexes and caches directories of any external drives while the Zinwell has to reread it each time. The difference in speed is absolutely huge. Basically performance wise the Zinwell feels really-really doggy to me. Advantage WDTV Live. The WD has a much cleaner and better looking interface compared to the Zinwell's ugly menus over a /Linux/like/file/system/. I can live with ugly as long as it works but in 2011 I shouldn't have to. Advantage WDTV Live. The WDTV Live outputs 5.1 audio in DTS format over HDMI, toslink or coax; the Zinwell outputs raw bits or stereo over HDMI. If your Receiver supports DTS then advantage WDTV. The Zinwell's remote is a tad better but much larger. Both media players work seamlessly with Harmony remotes. Advantage Zinwell. Both play nearly every popular audio and video format either from your own external hard drive or across a wired network. However both struggle trying to play hi-def video across a network connection. I find that hi-def vidio from an external hard drive works pretty well with the WDTV Live but never could get the Zinwell to output anything but stereo without the sound breaking up. Advantage WDTV Live. The Zinwell promises access to the full DVD/BD menus but I never could get menus to work and found the separate audio selection button to be stubborn. With the Western Digital you do have to get used to using the "options" button to access audio and subtitle choices but they work. Slight advantage WDTV Live. Bottom line the network media player market is still immature with many newer products coming down the pike but for now I consider the Zinwell a no-go for my needs. 25 of 29 people found the following review helpful. Great Little Device By Rainy Storm I own the Zinwell unit (not the brite-view or the viewsonic that look exactly the same). Good for: -Home HD Videos (Havent run into a file that it wont play yet) -Playback DVD image files w/o burning on to DVD -Karaoke Files (it has a left/right channel shift key) -Picture viewing with background music (you choose what song to play) Pros: -2 USB ports that work with Hard Drives (Only tried NTFS) and USB flash drives (Only tried FAT16, FAT32, NTFS) -lots of codec (rmvb, avi, mkv, iso, vob extensions all work fine) -1080p output -both bitstream of decode DTS and Dolby Digital sound (DTS ES 6.1 and DD EX both work fine, dont have anything to test high bitrate audio format though) -Network capability (never used it) Cons: -video/audio glitches when switching subtitles or audio tracks in a video file, easy fix by rewinding a second then play, then will play flawlessly till the end of the file. -Stewart 41 of 51 people found the following review helpful. works but there are plenty of better choices By Jacob Chavez Won't see my wireless. The receiver have 0 Hdmi inputs so if your planning to connect more devices to use the surround sound then you will end up using Toslink cables. I am happy with my purchase and if this receiver had 2 or more Hdmi inputs then 5 stars across the board. If you want the rear wireless speakers to be wireless the Wireless transmitter are sold seperatly if that is a deal breaker or not. great sound, deep base. So far loving it despite the lack of Hdmi inputs. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. All-in-One 3d Blue Ray Home Theater System By 06ajtayl This product is designed and functions very well! The look of the product is very black and glossy, giving a clean and modern feel. I bought this item for the HDMI Auido return Channel, which after a little messing around with works great!! One cable from the TV to the Reciever gives sound from stereo for all items hooked to the TV or visa versa. No clutter!! (Must use HDMI v1.4 plugs and cables in order to get ARC functionality, my bad). When hooked to a CEC, Anynet+, or compatible DNLA devise through HDMI this unit auto sync's all functions to TV, ie. put in a blue ray, tv turns itself on, turns to the correct input, and starts up the movie. Also, comes with an ipod dock which charges the Ipod, WHEN THE STEREO IS ON (be better if it charged all the time) but gives great control over sound thought IPod's controls OR through the TV, I like searching through songs on the TV through the Ipod better. Th touch controls are super cool and eliminate the look of buttons (kinda like a dishwasher with no buttons on the front) However, have accidently bumped up against controls and turn the unit on or off a few times. So, not so good if in the reach of small children, but should have a 3d blue ray player in the reach of children anyway. Paid $299.00 free shipping no tax through Amazon, cheapest anywhere. All other places $379.00 at best. I would buy again in a heart beat from amazon, customer service is A+. Really when they mean no hassle returns, they are for real. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Everything In One By Legnadibrom All you need in one system, just connect it to a TV and you're all set for a great home theater experience. I use this with a 46 inch Samsung LCD TV that I purchased a few weeks before this system. Initially I chose the TV because it has DLNA media sharing capabilities so I can stream all my shows and movies from my computer in my bedroom out to my comfy recliner in the living room. Then I tried watching a DVD on that TV with an old Sony player from 2004 to not very good results. So I decided to upgrade to Blu-Ray and went with this all-in-one package. Without disappointment. I stayed in the same brand family mainly because the TV was really great, plus the DLNA feature that Samsung implements in their Smart-devices is the future of media sharing and Samsung seems to be one of the only big brands to embrace the technology. Samsung's Anynet feature is also a great reason for getting a TV and player within this family because it simplifies quality settings, amongst other things like turning on/off with each other. As far as all the good things go - the picture looks great, both DVDs and Blu-rays look awesome and after some tweaking with the sound settings I have a healthy dose of bass and clear mid and high range. The audio setup wizard worked well with the detection mic and you can then adjust distance and volume for each speaker as desired...I pumped the subwoofer all the way up. 5.1 sound from Blu-rays is satisfying and the "3D" sound set on HIGH recreates surround sound for downloaded TV shows and movies streaming from my computer through DLNA,

Brite-View did it again, CinemaGo is the way to go By mukhi I have previously tried WD TV (1st generation) and CinemaTube and compared them since these were the media players having similar features at similar prices. Despite WD TV was the most popular media player, I had shown that CinemaTube was the winner. Read my review here: http://www.amazon.com/Brite-View-BV-5005HD-CinemaTube-Multimedia-Downloader/dp/B002CNOYRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280036605&sr=8-1 Now that both WD TV Live Plus and CinemaGo are out to fight, I can see CinemaGo is still going to be the winner for similar reasons. Although this time I did not try WD TV Live Plus (I didn't feel to), but after comparing their available features, from my previous experience with WD TV and CinemaTube and current experience with CinemaGo, I must say it will be hard to get a better product in the market at this price point. This time I have tried CinemaGo by hooking it up with different external hard disk drives (HDD), namely, 1.5 TB Seagate (7200 rpm inside, the notorious 7200.11 batch, still surviving though), 880 GB Seagate portable (5400 rpm), 320 GB SimpleTech portable (5400 rpm Hitachi inside) via USB and then connecting the player to my 720p 37" plasma HDTV via HDMI. Like any other media player in the market, this device is very simple to use, for its main job (as a player), you DON'T need to a "PC to keep open". Idea is like this: External USB/eSATA HDD .....> CinemaGo .....> HDTV (through HDMI) And, you are good to go. All you need is to put movies, music, photos in HDD! Of course, you need a PC to put the digital files in that external HDD (portable preferred, you know why I am saying that). For torrent downloading, you still don't need to keep PC open!!! Once you copy the .torrent file in HDD, and configure with CinemaGo after attaching this device with network router through ethernet cable (wireless also possible, not recommended as it's slower), it will download the file w/o any PC! For streaming things like Hulu, you need to keep PC open as PC will run the software (PlayOn) to communicate. What CAN CinemaGo do? Well, all that CinemaTube can and MORE!!! It may sound like I am repeating my previous review but you will find interesting new and/or improved features time to time. Have fun reading... # Plays virtually any file you are aware of. I have many different files in my HDD, namely, x264 coded MKV, DivX/XviD coded AVI, WMV, RM, MP4, MOV and so on. None of them failed. It even played .MTS files (from my HD camcorder) flawlessly. Unless the file specs are unusual and/or not supported by CinemaGo, it should play well. Other than WD TV Mini, none of the WD players still play RM files. This is because WD TVs (other than Mini version) are based on Sigma chipset while CinemaGo is based on Realtek chipset. I mainly use x264 coded MKV (with AC3 or DTS audio) video files now-a-days, no glitches so far. Some FLV files failed, but Brite-View let me know that they are working on it. # Can play upto 1080p although I could be able to test upto 720p as my TV does not support 1080p. However, I have ripped a blu-ray movie disk (BD) into my HDD and kept it untouched (~40 GB BDMV folder). CinemaGo played the movie without any hitch and although I did fast forward/ rewind a few times even at highest speed (32x), playback could not be interrupted. Amazing! It also supports playback of blu-ray ISO file. BD menu is not supported yet (and, not by similar media players either), we will see how Brite-View handles that in future. # DTS + Dolby digital ready. I could not still test it as I do not have a dedicated surround system. # Video preview. Was not available in WD players before. I don't see it available in WD TV Live Plus in their official website. # Resumes playback. WD players do this too, CinemaGo does only in a nicer way. For example, once I detached my HDD after watching a movie

Developed in collaboration with Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory, this high image processing technology reproduces clear, vivid colors that are faithful to the original film. Panasonic's Blu-ray Disc players employ high precision 4:4:4 signal technology, which working in tandem with PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus processes each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the horizontal direction to compliment vertical direction processing. P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing for HD) is another technology that contributes to the superior picture quality of the Blu-ray players. P4HD processes more than 15 billion pixels per second and applies the optimal processing to every pixel. Panasonic's Blu-ray Disc players further utilize 16-level motion detection to categorize the image motion of each pixel into one of 16 levels; diagonal processing to detect diagonals and correct the pixels accordingly; 1080p up-conversion to up-convert content recorded in the 480i/p or 720p format to 1080p. This Blu-ray Disc player also provides 1080/24p output, reproducing cinema images from a Blu-ray Disc and DVD in their original 24p form with no need for conversion--enabling you to enjoy cinema images in the same format used in cinema with a 1080/24p-compatible TV. Complimenting the HD audio codecs, the BD85 Blu-ray Disc player features 96kHz surround re-master, a function that enhances the sound quality of CDs and other sources, and even improves the quality of the multi-channel audio data on Blu-ray Discs and DVDs. Great Picture and Sound, but Ergonomically Challenged By Chris Boylan There is a lot to like about Panasonic's latest high-end Blu-ray player, the DMP-BD85: excellent video and audio performance, a rich assortment of streaming media options (Netflix, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Pandora Internet Radio and now VUDU via a recent firmware upgrade), and a highly customizable assortment of tweakable parameters for audio and video hobbyists. Also, with built in Wi-Fi via the included USB adapter, it's easier than it used to be to reap the benefits of an internet-enabled player. However, the bland text-based menus and operational idiosyncrasies of the player make it feel a little bit behind the times. DVD upconversion is very good to excellent, with some enhancements to Panasonic's Uniphier video processor that are only available in the BD85 and in the new Blu-ray 3D players, the DMP-BDT300 and DMP-BDT350. The entry-level BD45 and BD65 players include a slightly lesser quality version of the Uniphier processor, equivalent to Panasonic's 2009 players. Diagonal lines are clean and free from jaggies, 2:3 film cadence is easily detected by the player, preventing the tell-tale moire distortion that can occur on lesser players, and edge detail is smooth and fairly free of aliasing and any combing or tearing artifacts. Turning to high def Blu-ray Disc playback, advances to the player's chroma (color) upconversion processor enable outstanding color reproduction and color detail from 1080p Blu-ray Disc, superior to Blu-ray playback on some other more expensive players. To be honest, these improvements are only really visible on larger screen sizes (e.g., large screen projection systems) but home theater hobbyists and videophiles will appreciate the exceptional Blu-ray playback quality of the BD85. Audio quality is also excellent, with some innovative enhancements to the way digital audio is handled that can improve the sound quality, even over HDMI PCM and bitstream connections (specifically the "Jitter Purifier" and "High Clarity Audio" features). By providing more accurate data for the audio clock, the BD85 minimizes jitter that can detract from the sound quality, even when your receiver or preamp does the audio decoding. For those who have older non-HDMI receivers, the BD85's multi-channel analog outputs and on-board decoding for DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD can provide outstanding lossless audio from Blu-ray Disc (just be prepared to spend some time tweaking the player's speaker settings and your receiver to get the sound dialed in just right). In our testing, the included 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi adapter worked well. Also with the WiFi adapter is a 3-foot USB extension cable which allows you to place the wireless antenna module outside the audio cabinet where it can get better WiFi reception. We were easily able to stream Netflix in HD using the WiFi adapter one floor away from our 802.11g Linksys wireless router. Access to Netflix, Amazon and YouTube was pretty reliable (though we tested YouTube and Netflix much more heavily than Amazon VOD), and BD-Live features worked well on the player (as long as you give it a couple of minutes to fully connect to the network). Also, for those with the firmware 1.23 applied, as of June, 2010, Pandora is now available in the VIERA Cast screen on this player, and firmware 1.51 (11/2010) brought VUDU to this and other 2010 model year Panasonic players. But Panasonic made some ergonomic choices here that are a bit questionable. They shortened the remote vs. last year's models by about an inch. And while this does make the basic functions like transport and menu navigation a little easier to operate (at least to my thumbs), the smaller size meant removing the "Set-up" button entirely, and making the frequently used "Display" button much smaller and easy to miss. And although there is a VIERA Cast button the remote, which allows access to

I had been waiting a long time for one that had a good set of features and a reasonable price. Overall, in the 2 weeks I've had it, I've really loved it. I'll go over the good and the bad of this Blu-ray player. First the bad: The remote, like all Sony remotes, are very basic. It handles the Blu-ray player functions fine. It also has built in TV remote functions as well. I have a Sony Bravia TV that is about 2 years old. However the remote doesn't work for about half of the functions, making this remote useless for controlling the TV. The remote can be set to a handful of TV brands. You would think that it could at least handle a Sony TV properly. NOTE: When registering the device on the Sony site, this model is not listed (as of this review). I selected the model S570 instead and that worked for me. When playing a Netflix movie, one time the movie locked up the player. It didn't respond to the remote, then completely restarted itself. Of course it didn't remember where it had stopped in the movie and I had to search to find where I was to finish the movie. Hopefully this doesn't happen often. At the time of this review DLNA has not been included with the player and will be available later, so I could not test this out. Being that it isn't relly a new thing, you would think that they'd have this already included. AVI file playback is only avalable to Canada players. The buttons on this box are tiny and the labelling is just as small and hard to read. Pale white print on black is always hard to read. In a dark area it is nearly impossible, even with the little light that it shines on the lower button panel, so using the remote is the way to go. Don't forget it when you go to load a disc. You'll probably end up memorizing button locations if you like to use the buttons on the player itself. If you are playing a disc and decide to stop play for any reason, it exits disc mode entirely, connects you to Gracenote, and returns to the Xross menu. Forget about returning to where you stopped. You have to go back to the very beginning of the disc loading process. You have to point the remote directly at the player to get it to do anything. It's very picky about this. The good: This is a very nice machine. It oozes high-tech. It is small and lightweight and no bigger than the slim Sony upconverting DVD player it had replaced. They could have used the exact same case for it. Load times are excellent. There is a setting that can have it load even faster if you don't mind keeping it powered in standby mode. The Sony Xross menu system makes sense and is easy to navigate. The menu is in 1080p, so it looks smooth and not cheap like other older players have done. Setup was a breeze. Plug in your connections and power it on. You're ready to go. You just have to register the device with Sony and Netflix and Amazon if you use those services. Simple and quick. Sony already had a software update for the player, so I had it do the update and it was done after a few minutes. There are a number of on-line sites you can visit for music, music videos, a handful of movies and other misc. on-line video content. Assuming that the original on-line content is in good quality, the video picture quality is very nice. You can use your DVDs to play your own content. You aren't restricted to using the USB connection. If you have a supported video or audio format stored on a disc, you can play it on this player. Really awesome. I look forward to the DLNA support coming later. I'll be able to connect to my PC where I have my own video and photos stored there. Standard DVD playback is excellent. This is not just upconverted playback. It also puts it in 24p and it also appears to have cleaned up the DVD picture quality, so it's seriously close to Blu-ray quality. For your regular movie you'll start to ask

The sales folk assured us that Sony had fixed it's failings, and they have a good return policy where we bought, so we gave Sony a second chance. It works beautifully, even with Netflix. Video streams properly via wifi, and the unit has remained responsive at all times. On blu-ray the machine responds to commands instantly. The remote is well designed and easy to use. As I recall, one concern we had with this unit was that Amazon streaming video was not advertised on the box. However, the unit does in fact support Amazon. All-in-all, the unit works as designed and desired. 14 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Unreliable performance with a bad screensaver design By Abhishek K. Gupta 1. The player often hangs (gets stuck in "See you" mode or "Welcome" mode) and the only way to get out of it is to pull the power plug 2. One must wait for few minutes after turning on the player and before accessing the Internet Content since otherwise the player does not connect to the Internet (wired or wireless) and often hangs 3. The background image, while one is using the payer and browsing trough options, is a poor design of mostly dark screen with a very bright know of an image on TV's center-right. This image is so bright - and appears so often while browsing - that when one switches away from the screen (by turning on a program) - this bright spot leaves an imprint on the screen that does not go away for a long time! A strict non-no for those with plasma screens and I am not sure if it is all that good for an LCD/Edge-lit-LED TV in the long run either. 4. The 'Photo' menu option is blank and does not have things like Picasa, Photobucket etc (as are available on most Sony TVs that have Internet option) Other than these issues, the player has a built in chip for VUDU movies so one could stream HD movies. The Blu Ray player works fine. Startup time is quick (if you have that option selected at startup). However, reliability is a big issue and I am constantly frustrated with its lack of responsiveness and teh slowness with which is re-acquires its Internet connectivity after being switched on. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. You need a fast N Router to have flawless streaming content By Souroosh Soheili I see that a number of reviewers here are disappointed with the wireless streaming content (ie Netflix). I had the same issue until I switched my wireless router. You need a good N router that is specifically optimized for streaming video. I replaced my router with a Vizio XRW100 and the bluray player works perfectly. See all 16 customer reviews...

So if you can wait to buy, keep an eye on the price. Sound is good and there are no wireless speakers but speakers are easy to hook up. The wireless connection is great for streaming video from Netflix. I love this feature. If you have cable set top box you connect the HDMI output from the box to an HDMI input on the LG system. Then you connect the HDMI out from the LG to an HDMI input on your TV. You DO NOT need a digital optical out cable if you connect using HDMI. The instructions that come with the system to set it up Stink but you can get good support by calling their support line. PROS: Price, sound, picture, wifi with streaming video if you subscribe to Netflix, Vudu, cinemax etc., I POD connect, Bluray DVD. Good telephone support Cons: The remote is not a learning remote, so it will not turn power on for your TV or cablebox. Manual is lacking details Update to my review on april 18, 2011. LG has updated the software on this system to include Amazon VOD and additional premium applications. I have networked the Lg to my mac computer and I can listen to my music files and view my pictures on my TV. NICE! Amazon now has the best price on this system under $400.00. Buy it! 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Better than expected, and negative reviews are uninformed By NJ_Mark I don't normally do written reviews, only star ratings, but I had to put my 2¢ into the conversation. First of all, like some others I totally agree that it is ridiculous to expect a wireless speaker system if you know anything about systems at all, wireless or otherwise. The description is pretty clear in that the wireless term refers to the internet connection only. Anyway, I first bought an inexpensive RCA HTS, and would have been content except that the system was made defective from the factory (which I realized only after seeing reviews after I purchased- dumb not to research before I bought, I know). In disgust and in a hurry to try out the 3D on my new TV, I ordered this system and waited for it to arrive before returning the defective RCA system, and when I went from the old to the new, I couldn't believe the difference in the sound!! OMG, totally worth every penny spent on this LG system. But, I do have a complaint. When changing inputs on the remote, the button descriptor is poor at best. I could figure it out, but my wife rolled her eyes when I tried to explain how to navigate through the new remote (so I know when I am traveling I will get the, "how do I put it on..." call). I was surprised that on the $160 RCA HTS, the system had 5 HDMI inputs and the remote had a button to match each input. The LG remote has 1 input selector called "Radio/Input" which each press scrolls through all the choices which cannot be re-named. They are HMDI 1, HDM1 2, AUX, etc.-- try explaining that to a non-tech-savvy spouse. Back to the good points. The sound quality is what you want out of a system: thumpin' bass, crisp voice and good high end. I connected via LAN, and took advantage of some of the trial memberships in the first few days. Netflix online-only sucks, as the selection is limited to older releases. I quit Netflix a while back because of this, and thought they would have figured it out but hadn't. I canceled the trial membership the same night because I couldn't find anything we wanted to watch. Vudu was new to me, but this is the one for me. I watched an HD (1080p), 3D movie (streaming)with no hiccups AT ALL, and the picture quality was as if I had a 3D blu ray in the player-- amazing! Bottom line: money well invested, and bringing our family together in one room to enjoy the new 3D TV/HTS system. Daughter now has the cool house, so we just need to keep the fridge stocked for all the teenage appetites! Now considering a cover charge to

By ZomgLawlz I owned a couple of the LG BD570 models but wanted to add the surround sound without having to buy a seperate tuner. This was a very nice update over the 570 model, the sound is actually quite good on both movies, and music. There were some reviews talking about music sounding hollow, but for me it really sounds great. The wifi works nicely for both streaming and home networking. The wireless rear speakers made my life so much easier without having to run wires across my living room. The new LG Smart TV is great, though I recognize some folks may not agree since it seems to be in it's infant stages. But, what they have works wonderfully. I also love the integration with my iPhone. Since I am stationed in Japan, finding good TV is hard to do, but Smart TV fits my needs with the help of a VPN. Hulu is scheduled to be available on it in another month or two which will only add to the appeal. I highly recommend this unit. It's a great all in one, 3D BD, Home Theater, Radio, Media Player, Internet TV. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Good value for the money By Jim Smiley First of all don't expect the LG LHB976 to blow you away with mind blowing surround sound. It's good enough for you to enjoy the sound effects of 5.1 movies and TV. But your room won't shake, rattle and roll. The passive sub-woofer can't deliver the booming effects you'll get from a powered sub. And that also limits this from being a great music system. I do really like the Integrated Wi-Fi and Smart TV aspects of this however. And the wireless rear speakers are just what I needed. Please be aware the rear speakers are actually wired to the Wi-Fi transmitter(Which works great by the way}. So you do need an electrical outlet, and you'll have wires running from the transmitter. The Smart TV is a bit complicated in the initial navigation, but with a little trial and error you'll figure it out. For an inexpensive surround system I think it's well worth the money. If you have a small enough room, and can spend a bit more, I would suggest the Polk Audio SoundBar 50. I couldn't keep mine because the room was to big for the surround effects to work. But I'm telling you with a powered sub, that thing did blow me away. Update 3 months later: I experienced a problem with the rear speakers where they would not deliver anything but occasional loud static, even though they were linked just fine. Customer service was great! They told me which parts to return(Receiver, both speakers and link receiver). I was e-mailed a shipping label, and then was called about a week later to let me know the unit had been tested and that the parts required were back ordered and it would be two weeks before I would have it back. I appreciate the communication and the overall customer service professionalism. I've had no further problems, and am totally enjoying the surround experience they provide. Another benefit I've discovered is the ability to share with the media in your home computer through a wireless router. The only thing keeping me from making this a 5 star is the less than stellar performance in music playback. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not bad overall, but just a few glitches that sealed the deal By Shawn G. Demers I bought this unit about a month ago, and I am returning it to Amazon this week. Overall the unit functions well, the sound quality is very good and the setup was not hard (I would describe myself as a very tech-able person...not an expert, but I know my way around). But, the reason I am returning it is that there were a few functions and things it did that told me I would not be satisfied with this unit in the long run. For comparison, this unit was replacing a 5.1 Sony Dream System that I got probably 8-9 years ago. That unit worked fine with my previous setup, but we got a new TV, and the new TV did not have analog audio out, so
